With the flurry of news on Kanye recently and his recent profession of faith, I wanted to pump the brakes on all of that to bring us down to earth through the lens of scripture.
I have seen many negative comments made about Kanye coming to faith and I do not wish to contribute to that what so ever. Instead, let’s turn to Philippines 1:15-18: “It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice,”
Kanye is a young believer and in my journey as a believer I have come to realize that the fruit of the spirit are evidence of a truly changed heart. I truly pray that he has a strong group of believers that will uplift him, sharpen him and speak truth into his life. Let’s all pray for Kanye as he begins the journey of living life wholy surrendered to God.
