29 If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell.Matthew 5:29
There is so much noise in this world. Cars, planes, fans, animals, people and you guessed it, social media. I have gone on such an endeavor a few years ago and found that I was generally less stressed. I wasn’t comparing myself to someone else or wanting something that someone else has. I tend to keep what I post to a minimum and more often than not I comment on other peoples posts. This has been this way for many years and for good reason. Some might consider me someone who overshares. I would have to agree with that statement based on my prior relationship with all forms of social media.
I am not here to discuss the past though, rather the future. Due to a recent event that occurred on a social media platform I for a long time deemed harmless, I will be stepping away from social media platforms (except YouTube, business profiles that I manage and here) indefinitely. I value my very close relationships to much to allow the filth that inhabits most social media platforms to ruin my life. So in accordance with Matthew 5:29, I feel it is necessary to forgo any further interaction with the platforms I used to consider harmless.
So as of January 1st, 2021, I will be uninstalling these apps from my phone. If you are reading this and wish to keep in contact with me, you need only reach out and let me know how to keep in touch. I hope that from this point on I will be able to come back to reality, stop comparing myself to others, and avoid the brokenness of it all.
I feel like a lot of my posts include Romans 12:2, but I will quote it once more.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.Romans 12:2
So in place of the time I would have wasted on various platforms, I hope to increase the amount of posts on here. I hope you all can follow along this journey with me of purging what is harmful to me. Grace and peace be with you all.
